The controversial film "A Better Place" by director Vincent Pereira and produced by Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier (Dogma, Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy) is taken further down the spiral of darkness with this moody, futuristic soundtrack from Gig Soundtracks. The cd features new music from Amazing Meet Project, Mikael Jorgensen, Auto vs. Pedestrian, Michael Ferentino, the Stereo Mother-Fuckers, Dog and a previously un-released track by critically acclaimed art-rockers Love in Reverse.
This seamless album opens with a haunting, thematic, ambient track by Auto vs. Pedestrian, which re-appears throughout the soundtrack. Under a variety of pseudonyms, experimental artists Michael Ferentino and Andres Karu provide a dark, mood provoking journey interspersed with dialogue from the cast featuring Jason Lee (Chasing Amy, Mallrats) and Eion Bailey (Fight Club, Almost Famous). Collaborating with Michael and Andres is Mikael Jorgensen and Auto vs. Pedestrian, who carry on the mood throughout the film and disc.
Ferentino and Karu recently performed a show with the Diablo Project at NYC's famed Limelight, which was recorded for air on Canada's Much Music video station and are presently working on a new Amazing Meet Project album for future release. Presently, Ferentino is recording in London with former Wonder Stuff frontman Miles Hunt. Kevin Smith fans enthusiastically received the private screening of "A Better Place" at last November's annual Vulgarthon film festival. Recently picked by the Independent Film Channel for a three year run, "A Better Place" is scheduled for release on DVD, along with the soundtrack in February 2001.
