Keeping it simple is something the Saratoga Springs-based rock band Dryer have been doing for seven years now. In a time when popular musical groups have become increasing complicated - from the post-hippie jam bands that cram onstage with almost as many members as your average hockey team, to the former rock bands that have "updated" their sound to include more than two turntables and a microphone - Dryer has stayed true to its stripped-down rock and roll roots.
That means just bass, guitar and drums, and simple catchy songs. Led by the twin attack of front-people Bob Carlton (on guitar) and Rachael Sunday (on bass), the band's version of melodic guitar-based rock is buoyed along by some massive beats from drummer Joel Lilley. All three of the band members add their vocal and song-writing skills to the band's burgeoning repertoire.
After two albums sold mostly on tour and in the New York area, Dyer began searching for a stronger label for support. With "Everything In Static", Dryer makes their Gig Records debut and is ready to flex their muscle on a national level. Since signing to Gig, Dryer has showcased at CMJ and the Millennium Music Conference.
"With their catchy, guitar driven fare, DRYER prove themselves true popmeisters. And while they can be direct and simplistic at times, their intelligent charm and disarmingly casual honesty, in the end, are totally satisfying" THE METROLAND
