BIOGRAPHY :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

      Nebula 9 brings together a speaker-pounding hybrid of House, Trance, and Breaks, often coupled with innovative uses of sampling. (Trainspotters will continue to seek out original issues of Nebula 9's full-length debut, "Live From My Sampler" for the mad underground remix of A Guy Called Gerald's classic ol'skool cut, "Voodoo Ray".)

      For the better part of ten years Jim has performed alongside such electronic luminaries as Orbital, The Crystal Method, Autechre, Moby and Orb, dropping the beat across the nation. In the studio Jim Stout's name has also become synonymous with first-rate production skills. When the "queen of trance", Sandra Collins, needed a hit on wax for a Nick Warren mix compilation, she turned to Jim to produce the bangin' trance anthem, "Flutterby", which debuted at number 11 on the European dance chart. Nebula 9 scored another club fave back in 1995 with a remix of the Waterlillies' track "Never Get Enough" (Sire/Kinetic), and is sure to score again with a remix project for DJ Hardware's track Static Resistance, which will be released on the Pure label later in early 2001.

      Nebula 9 has also appeared several times on the playlists for some of the industry's biggest DJ's, whether it be Judge Jules spinning the hit track "Everybody's Welcome" (Rampant) or Junior Vasquez playing the slamming remixes Jim produced for Foreskin 500's track "Super Family" (Priority).

      Jim Stout will be quick to point out is that he's not a DJ. Everything driving the music behind Nebula 9 is straight from his creative mind, synths, samplers, and sequencers. Now after burying himself in his studio for nearly 2 years, Nebula 9 has re-emerged with his Amped/Gig Records debut LP, "Moodhop Volume 1: Music To Have Sex To". This clever, downtempo 10-track full-length is a "soundtrack comparable to the soulful tones of Barry White in the 1970's." Early in 2001, look for the new progressive house and trance full length "Live From My Sampler v2.0."
