Joey Demo, a.k.a. DJ Spitfire, began his DJing career in New York at 16
in the nightclubs of the Bronx and Westchester County. Within a year he
moved into the Manhattan clubs and hasn’t looked back. He has been
asked to DJ in Miami, Sweden, Spain, Germany, Jamaica, Greece, and many
exotic locations. He turned his attention to producing and his first record
was Hip-Hop Bee Bop, ITM records, with noted Jazz musicians Henry Threadgill,
Billy bang, and Craig Harris. This mild success led to his working with
OS Entertainment and subsequent records on MIC/MAC, Cutting Records, and
Nervous Records.
A Simulcast with Link Up Radio/WLIR 92.7 MY, Fame
Radio Jamaica, and WRTN 93.5 Westchester NY provided JD with more exposure
and helped him to develop his alliance with radio and mix shows that he
put together. Spitfire’s work on Prince Dominique’s "The
Outlaw", Radical Records, caught the ear of Frank Reyes, the writer/director
of the upcoming Universal/Arenas film "EMPIRE", in which Spitfire
has a featured cut. Spitfire also took part in the score for the independent
short film by director Declan Mulvey "PRIZON WARZ." His new
work with Gum Parker on Gig Records came out in early 2003. He is currently
working on tracks for the WWE album to be released later this year as
well as a full-length release for Gig Records in fall 2004.
